The
Woolper Mountain Boys will admit they have been playing together as a bluegrass band for only a couple years. But individually, they have been playing music all their lives. They are a group whose musical backgrounds are as diverse as the instruments they play. While the band's sound is firmly rooted in Kentucky bluegrass tradition, they easily draw and mix compositional elements from their varied musical pasts, which come from classical, rural Kentucky bluegrass, folk, blues, and country. This they blend to produce a classic sound that sets them apart from the rest of the pack.

They are Kentucky boys, and their
deep devotion to the music that Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs and other famous Kentucky musicians made famous is heard in every note they play. They have performed in parades, at charity functions, parties, weddings, and many other venues.

The Boys who make up the WMB are:
- Tom Bushelman, Jr. (dobro, reso. guitar, vocals)
- Stephen Enzweiler (guitar, lead vocal)
- Steve Martin (banjo, banjolin )
- Jerry Schrepfer (guitar, bass, lead and vocals)
- Steve Wolfe (fiddle, vocals)

Jerry Schrepfer and Stephen Enzweiler were both classically trained symphonic musicians in their youth.
Steve Martin has played guitar and banjo for most of his half century. Steve Wolfe hails from central Kentucky and brings the rural sounds of traditional bluegrass fiddle. And Tom Bushelman, the son of the band's original dobro player, Tom Buslhelman, Sr. cut his baby teeth on the banjo, guitar, and dobro almost 40 years ago (he never bothered to go see a dentist about it).

In the two years they have been together, the Woolper Mountain Boys have grown from back room bluegrass jammers to mature, multi-instrumental players who are consistently praised for the variety and quality of their performance and sound.

But the Woolper Mountain Boys are not just a house band. While they play traditional bluegrass music, they have their own sound and voice their own interpretation of many traditional arrangements. They also write their own song and instrumentals as a way of expressing their own creativity and contributing to the body of Bluegrass music. It is a cross-pollinated approach mixing all of their musical experiences, with an emphasis on vocal harmonies and acoustical dynamics. Such original songs that audiences include the tragic Darlin Willie, the racing rhythms of Chester's Breakdown, the wildly funny Yonder in the Woods, and their famous signature banjo instrumental, Wobble Mountain.
